The Maryland Senior Women’s Basketball Association (MSWBA) is a group of passionate athletes representing the state of Maryland annually in Regional and national Senior games.
About Us
The MSWBA was founded by business manager and team captain Sandra Barrett, in January 2016. After competing regionally for three years on various teams, Sandra noticed that her home state of Maryland had no team representation for senior women in the 50 – 54 age range. It became Sandra’s mission to develop a team of competitors that would represent the state of Maryland in the June 2017 National Senior Games in Birmingham, AL. which are held every two years. Member recruitment happened rapidly. And over a period of 90 days – Team Maryland 28.5 was born! Team uniforms were ordered and practice space was generously donated by Trinity Episcopal Day School in Glendale, MD.
MSWBA members are player volunteers, women from all walks of life: business owners, doctors, business professionals, homemakers, retired police officers, retired military, and teachers.
MSWBA is actively recruiting members to join our developing teams in the following age groups: 50-54,55-59, 60-64, and 65-69. Any woman, age 50 or older, who enjoys basketball, spirited competition and shows good sportsmanship may join and play.
MSWBA members play three-on-three, half-court, recreational and competitive basketball. Members participate in national and state tournaments for seniors throughout the calendar year. Additionally, members participate in weekly open gym and approximately four regional tournaments per year.

In Remembrance
MSWBA is deeply saddened by the passing of our Georgetown Hall of Fame women’s basketball player (C’93) and our teammate. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, coaches, and fellow teammates.
